Wear Next?

The evolution of smart fashion

Presently being drafted, with a view to publication in 2023/24.

Born in our birthday suit, we quickly turn to textiles to keep us warm, maintain our modesty and make a statement.  Over the years, we have used animal, plant and synthetic fibres to create a great variety of clothing; some functional, some fashionable.

Today we routinely wear advanced materials and devices to protect us from the elements and feed us with information. In the future, we’ll expect even more from our clothing with integrated sensors, displays, and functions.  And we’ll embed devices within our body to augment and interface with our wearables.

This book looks at the history of the materials used in our clothing and accessories, highlighting how wearable tech. is evolving to define the future of fashion.
